Stayed here for one night and really loved it. Mario is a great host. Even though check-in was little later, he let us hang out by the river while we waited. There’s a small seating area, and since we came in winter, the river was calm and shallow in most spots. The room was amazing—clean, cozy, and very well set up. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bathroom was huge with a bathtub, and the balcony faced the river, which was super nice. The place is a bit inside from the main road (about 10 minutes), with a sloped rural-style road, but it wasn’t an issue at all. Zona Romantica is around 15 minutes by car. Overall, great stay. Wish we had stayed longer and would definitely come back.

Casa Rio Cuale is an oasis in the midst of the busy and very popular tourist destination of Puerto Vallarta. Enjoy the city, but return to the peaceful riverside bed & breakfast for rest and rejuvenation (breakfast is not included, but it is worth every peso! Easily my favorite breakfast of my whole trip). It is only a 10-15 min drive from the city center, yet it feels like you may as well be at a remote mountain retreat when sitting by the river and enjoying the surroundings! Mario & Tia Marta are wonderful hosts. I will be back! 10 stars if I could give that many! Gracias!

Great place, nice owner, easy to take a bus, store downstairs, but no AC so it would sometimes get extremely hot at night. Mario also helped us to set up a covid test, which is so nice) we chose it, but having no AC in may is tough. And I was closed out once at the river with a little baby, which wasn't nice at all. Please, the next time you gonna close that door, make sure there's nobody chilling outside. Thank you!

Best experience in Puerto Vallarta! Oasis away from the city. Beautiful home right on the river, very friendly owners. Recommend the suite with the patio, worth it!

Very clean rooms and deck, one of the cleanest shared bathrooms I've ever been in and prettiest ones, very well taken care of place, the river is flowing directly behind and has a beautiful little sand patch with chair out back for watching the river or tanning, would definitely recommend if you want out of town. Is very safe and clean. And very nice people

Our stay here was amazing! We wanted to be out in the rural areas & enjoy more of the people, home made foods, & stay away as much as possible from the tourists - this was it. To begin with, I’d like to say that Mario (he runs the place) was such a sweet & helpful person. The place was clean & we gad a great view. The river is perfect & so calming at night. If you go, please make sure to visit Rancho Mi Abuelo & take a horse ride through the mountains with Raymundo! From the rooms, you can enjoy bird watching - lots of parrots there! PLEASE READ THIS FOR TRANSPORTATION!!! I was very happy taking the bus down & then walking to zona romantica or taking a cab. To come back up late at night, Id recommend a cab & telling them exactly where you’re going + price before you hop in. Try to avoid Uber coming down to town as they are not fan of the road. Ask mario for transportation suggestions.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Casa Rio Cuale. We chose the "Suite" as it has an amazing view of the river and plenty of space. Waking up with the Guacamayos calling is really special. It's actually an apartment you could cook some meals as well. Bed was really comfy and the sound of the river made us drift away! What would be improvable is some overall cleanliness especially in the shower and some better lighting above the sinks. For us the location was perfect as we had a car but not having one would've made us feel a little alienated as food options are not so abundant and the road is not so well lighted up. If you want to get away from the bustle of Puerto Vallarta this is the place to go.

Beautiful location - a great getaway from the hustle & bustle of Vallarta. Felt rejuvenated each day with river sounds lulling me to sleep at night! Wifi worked great in my room and on different floors. The family-run business was colourful, clean and modern and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. On different days I prepared my own meals in the kitchen or ordered breakfast--a full meal for a good price. Mario was my main point of contact and was friendly, respectful and very helpful. Visited twice already and can't wait to come back!
